LYNX TRUSSED RAFTERS
TIMBER ENGINEERING SERVICES – DESIGN & SUPPLY OPTIONS
Timber Frame Services Ltd., manufacturers of Lynx trussed rafters offer a range of Engineering, Design and Supply options depending on the individual requirements of our customers.
It is advised that customers familiarise themselves with our Information Sheet IFM-01 which reflects the Design Responsibilities section of the TRA Technical Handbook (Page 3) and Section 10 of BS5268:Part 3.
Level 1. Truss Design
Level one assumes we will take over the role and responsibilities of “Truss Designer”. In this role we design and manufacture individual roof trusses only, to our customers specification, and supply ancillary items such as bracing and carpenters metalwork.
Included in our price at this level is :-
1. A truss specification sheet for each truss type.
2. Standard CONDAM information.
3. Standard bracing information sheets.
4. Provision of proof calculations.
At Level One we would expect all relevant information to be provided by our customers, and truss specifications to be approved before manufacture.(See TFS information sheet IFM-01).
Level 2. Roof Design
At Level 2 we assume the role of “Roof Designer”. By definition at this Level we will accept responsibility for the design, manufacture and supply of the complete roof package, including carpenters metalwork and roof stability bracing. We do not include any bracing required to resist wind forces imposed on the supporting structure or wall plate which can be priced and supplied as a separate item as it requires additional in depth engineering and details of the building construction which very often are not available at time of roof truss quotation.
We specifically exclude in all roof packages, wall plates, fascia, soffit, valley boards, and fixings to masonry.
In addition to the items included at Level 1, in the absence of suitable dimensioned drawings showing the roof layout we can survey the contract enabling us to provide drawings that detail our proposals prior to manufacture.
We will request that our proposals are checked for dimensional accuracy and that the general arrangement meets with your requirements.
We would draw your particular attention to our information sheet IFM-03 which relates specifically to Site Surveys carried out by TFS.
Level 3. Design and Erect
At Level 3 we include all the services offered at Levels 1 and 2 together with an erection service carried out by our own specialist sub-contractors who are experienced in our methods of roof construction. They fix to a quality we can rely on and if required customers using our Level 3 service can be issued with a Design Certificate after erection following an inspection from one of our Engineers.
Please note that for an additional cost we can provide an Industry Standard Collateral Warranty to Customers using Level 2 and Level 3 services
